About Water Soluble oil
Introduction
- Water-soluble oils consist of a blend of emulsifiers, mineral oil or synthetic oil, additives such as extreme pressure, corrosion inhibitors, anti-foaming, bacterial inhibitors etc.
- When concentrated oil is mixed in water to form a white color emulsion, this lubrication and coolant is used during drilling, milling, cutting, grinding etc. The main objectives is to reduce the friction between the workpiece and the cutting tool dissipation of heat, flushing away metal chips and debris, and protecting the workpiece and cutting tool from corrosion.
- Water-soluble oils offer several advantages over straight oils or neat cutting fluids, including improved cooling properties, better flushing action, and reduced misting and smoke during machining operations.
- It also helps to clean the machine surfaces and workpieces as they can be easily washed with water.
- Water-soluble oils are available in various formulations to suit different machining applications and materials, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, aluminum, stainless steel, and exotic alloys.
